The difference between the new-look Dallas Cowboys and the 2020 edition is night and day. Dallas now seems to be a serious Super Bowl contender after years of failing to live up to great expectations. Trevon Diggs, a cornerback, is one of the team’s most improved players, and he predicts a major improvement in the Cowboys in 2021.
The Cowboys’ ability to contend for a Super Bowl at the conclusion of the season is explained by Diggs’ surprise.

The Dallas Cowboys’ 2020 NFL season did not go as planned. During the first few weeks of the season, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore’s offense was on fire. The momentum was halted, though, when Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending leg injury.
While the offense performed well, the defense did not fare as well. Even before Prescott went down, the unit was giving up huge plays to rival offenses on a regular basis.
When Dallas’ best quarterback went down with an injury, whatever fight it had early in the season gone. Andy Dalton was an ineffective substitute, and the offense as a whole struggled as a consequence. In 2020, Ezekiel Elliott had one of his worst seasons in his career.
The Cowboys concluded the season with a total defensive ranking of 28th. Opposing teams averaged 386.4 yards and 29.5 points per game against the unit.
Former NFL linebacker and ESPN pundit Bart Scott chastised the club for having “cowardice” guys in the locker room.
The Cowboys lost their battle after losing their two-time Pro Bowl quarterback for the season, finishing with a 6-10 record.

The Dallas Cowboys were a subpar football club for the most of the 2020 season without Dak Prescott as quarterback.
By Week 8 of the 2021 NFL season, the Cowboys have established themselves as one of the greatest teams in the league. They’ve shown that a year can make a huge impact.
Dan Quinn’s defense has been pleasantly surprised by the development of second-year cornerback Trevon Diggs. Diggs discussed the difference between the Cowboys in 2020 and 2021 in a recent interview with NFL Network’s Michael Irvin.
This Cowboys club, according to Diggs, is “totally different.” “Everything is unique. He went on to say, “How we function is different.” “It has the vibe of a true team.”
As an NFL cornerback, the Alabama product has advanced to the next level. Dallas’ defense has benefited greatly from his playmaking skills.
On the defensive side of the ball, rookie linebacker Micah Parsons said there are a “bunch of go-getters.” “Every day in practice, we discuss how to get the ball back to our offense and who will be the person,” he added. “I believe everyone has been fighting for their chance to start on this squad with their jersey.”
This group has a fresh swagger that was not there in 2020. The Cowboys’ success through the first eight weeks of the season seems to be due to a shift in thinking.
The Cowboys have a genuine chance to win the Super Bowl.
Could the Dallas Cowboys of 2021 be the genuine deal? Yes, to put it simply.
Mike McCarthy’s team has gotten off to a great start. The Cowboys are now 6-1 entering into Week 9. Right now, the Cowboys seem to be the top team in the NFC.
With Dak Prescott back in the lineup, Kellen Moore’s offense has been on a tear. The quarterback did not play in the Cowboys’ Week 8 game against the Vikings, but backup Cooper Rush did.
Prescott has consistently performed at an MVP level on the field. Ezekiel Elliott is seventh in the NFL in running yards and has five touchdowns. Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb have been consistent weapons and constitute one of the top wide receiver tandems in the game.
Dallas’ defense has been the greatest surprise thus far. Mike Nolan, the team’s defensive coordinator, was sacked and replaced with Dan Quinn, the former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. The disparity is clear after the first seven games.
Trevon Diggs has seven interceptions and leads the NFL in pass breakups in only seven games. He’s a strong contender for the Defensive Player of the Year award. Micah Parsons, meanwhile, seems to be a total hunk.
If healthy, they will be a tough club to defeat, with the opportunistic defense taking a stride forward and the offense running.
Although the NFC is competitive, Dallas has as strong a shot as any team to reach Super Bowl LV.

When he retires from the NFL, Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb says he wants to be the next Tony Romo: ‘I’m up there with the best of them when it comes to football talk.’
