George Will is a Pulitzer Prize-winning conservative political commentator. He writes a column for The Washington Post and is a regular panelist on Fox News Sunday. Will also appears on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. In 1986, he won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary for his “well-reasoned analysis” of the Reagan Administration’s economic policies.

Will is a member of the Washington Nationals baseball team’s ownership group. He is also a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

George Will was born in Champaign, Illinois, on May 4, 1941. He graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in politics and philosophy. Will then earned a Ph.D. in government from the University of Oxford in 1970.Will began his career as a speechwriter for Illinois Governor Richard Ogilvie. He then worked as an editorial writer for The Washington Star from 1971 to 1974. In 1974, he joined The Washington Post as a columnist. His columns are syndicated in more than 400 newspapers worldwide.

What inspired George Will to start playing baseball?

In an interview with C-SPAN in 2012, Will said that he first became interested in baseball when he was 10 years old and his family moved from Champaign, Illinois, to suburban Detroit. He began following the Detroit Tigers and grew to love the game.Will has been a baseball columnist for The Washington Post since 1974. In that time, he has witnessed some of the game’s greatest moments. He was in the stands for Mark McGwire’s record-breaking 62nd home run in 1998 and he also covered the Baltimore Orioles’ Cal Ripken Jr. breaking Lou Gehrig’s record for most consecutive games played.
