Michael Jordan’s Hornets might roster two Ball brothers after Lavar Ball said he could beat MJ in 1-on-1.
The ball family nba is a basketball team that has recently been in the news. Michael Jordan’s Hornets might be adding 2 ball brothers to their roster after Lavar Ball said he could beat MJ in 1-on-1.
In successive years, Michael Jordan and the Charlotte Hornets may add a Ball brother. Charlotte is interested in signing LiAngelo after selecting LaMelo with the No. 3 overall selection in 2020. Despite their father, LaVar, reportedly saying he could defeat MJ in a 1-on-1 game, the Balls are sticking with Jordan and the Hornets.
LiAngelo Ball’s effort in the Summer League is “loved” by the Hornets.
There’s a lot of excitement around @LiAngeloBall, who has performed well throughout Summer League and is fighting for a place in the NBA or the G-League. I’ve talked with many members of the #Hornets’ organization. Gelo is adored by everyone! He’s proved to a lot of skeptics that he’s a real person and a hard worker…
15 August 2021 — Jordan Schultz (@Schultz Report)
LiAngelo Ball is attempting to join his brothers in the NBA as the third Ball sibling to do so. He came to the Association via a different path than his more renowned brothers.
Ball, like Lonzo and LaMelo, was a standout high school player at Chino Hills. He went at UCLA to follow in Lonzo’s footsteps, but he dropped out after receiving an extended ban for a shoplifting incident in November 2017.
As the middle Ball sibling prepped for the NBA draft, LiAngelo (and LaMelo) would play in a professional league in Lithuania. But it didn’t make a difference. LiAngelo hadn’t been generating much attention before to the shoplifting incident, which seemed to snuff off any potential interest. In 2018, he was undrafted.
Ball, on the other hand, hasn’t given up on his NBA ambition. Ball was added to the Charlotte Hornets’ Summer League roster, and the team has been pleased with what they’ve seen thus far.
The Hornets “adore” LiAngelo Ball, according to ESPN’s Jordan Schultz, with one coach telling Schultz that Ball worked out every day for two months for a chance in the Summer League.
Ball isn’t exactly putting on a show in Vegas, but he’s doing a good job shooting the ball. Through the first four games, he has averaged 10.5 points on 16.3 minutes per game while shooting 41.7 percent from outside the arc.
Ball’s future in the NBA or the G League remains to be seen, but the Hornets seem to be interested in bringing him in. After LaVar Ball’s comical campaign against Michael Jordan a few years ago, two Ball brothers in Charlotte would make for an intriguing dynamic.
LaVar Ball once claimed that he could defeat Michael Jordan in a one-on-one match.
LaVar Ball has always been a staunch supporter of his two boys. He’s also not afraid to say things that are ridiculous.
Ball visited ESPN’s First Take debate panel in 2017 and joked that he could defeat Michael Jordan in a 1-on-1 match. Ball said that he “never lost” and that Jordan is “too tiny.”
Michael Jordan isn’t one to allow a snide remark go unchallenged, and he’s not one to back down from trash talk. In true MJ flair, he reacted appropriately.
According to USA TODAY, Jordan advised participants at his Flight School, “You have to comprehend the source.” “I believe he played in college? He scored 2.2 points per game on average. Really? It’s hardly a dignified response, but I’m going to offer it to you since you asked. Even if I were one-legged, I don’t believe he could defeat me.”
Jordan praised LaVar for his pride in his boys, but he also advised the vocal parent to let his children’s play do the talking.
Let’s fast forward almost four years. LaMelo Ball is coming off a Rookie of the Year season in which he was named NBA Rookie of the Year. Members of Jordan’s front staff in Charlotte are impressed with LiAngelo. As Lonzo prepares for a new chapter in MJ’s former stomping grounds in Chicago, there’s even a connection with the oldest brother.
Jordan and Ball’s friendship has unexpectedly deepened.

Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets have a bad reputation for poor drafting and personnel choices in the past. That narrative, though, is starting to shift.
Charlotte’s recent draft selections have made a big impact. PJ Washington and Ball are examples of this. After selecting Connecticut guard James Bouknight and trading up for Texas big man Kai Jones in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Hornets received favorable feedback.
Despite receiving some criticism for the Terry Rozier and Gordon Hayward contracts, both decisions paid off this season and seem to be reasonable.
The Hornets have a solid foundation now, with Jordan laying a stronger long-term basis for the first time as club governor. Perhaps LiAngelo Ball will be a part of that foundation and get his first NBA opportunity.

Michael Jordan’s dreadful track record may be about to change, thanks to LaMelo Ball.
