The NFL season is back and the first week of games was as exciting as ever. Here are three match-ups that should be must-see TV this weekend.
The nfl point spreads week 2 is a matchup between the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints. Other intriguing matchups include the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals, and the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers.
Week 1 of the football season has come and gone, and although we may have learned a few things, we can’t be certain. During the NFL Week 2 schedule, we begin to validate or re-evaluate our first impressions from the opening weekend. For example, the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 of 2020, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to the New Orleans Saints. Since then, the Jaguars haven’t won a game, and the Buccaneers have won the Super Bowl.
Week 1 may be deceiving, which is why Week 2 is so important in deciding what occurs the remainder of the season. Here are the three most interesting NFL Week 2 matches to get you prepped for what’s in store in this important second round of games.
Sunday, September 19, 1:00 p.m. EST, FOX, Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins
The Buffalo Bills may feel comfortable about their Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers boast one of the greatest defenses in the league, and the Bills might have won the game if not for a blocked punt.
In Week 1, the Miami Dolphins defeated the New England Patriots, but they may feel terrible about it. The Dolphins might have easily lost if not for an un-Patriot-like fumble as rookie quarterback Mac Jones led his side on a game-winning drive.
However, in the NFL, “coulda, woulda, shoulda” is not acceptable. The Dolphins are undefeated, while the Bills are winless.
This is a big game for both teams, and for the Bills, it’s as close to a must-win game in Week 2. A win for the Dolphins would give them a two-game lead over the division favorites (and perhaps the New England Patriots and New York Jets, depending on their NFL Week 2 outcomes) and two head-to-head wins over their AFC East opponents.
Division championships aren’t typically decided in September, but a victory over Josh Allen and company at home would send a strong message and give Miami a significant advantage.
Sunday, September 19, 1:00 p.m. EST, FOX, San Francisco 49ers vs. Philadelphia Eagles
This is a clash between two clubs who have the potential to be very successful this season. We just don’t know since they both faced teams that might be very poor this season.
It’s difficult to make any season-long predictions after only one week of football. That’s why the 49ers’ 41-33 win against the Lions and the Eagles’ 32-6 thrashing of the Atlanta Falcons are difficult to measure at the moment.
While both wins were remarkable in their own right, the reality that the Lions and Falcons are likely to finish as two of the league’s worst teams when all is said and done makes judging both W’s difficult.
We’ll receive more answers to our pressing questions from Week 1 when San Francisco and Philadelphia meet this week. Is the Niners’ offense really as potent as it appears? Is it possible for Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance to coexist in the future? Is the Philadelphia defense legit? Was Jalen Hurts able to make the transition over the offseason?
The NFL Week 2 game between Philadelphia and San Francisco will be the first true test for both teams, and it will reveal a lot about these two teams, who may face off again in the NFC playoffs.
Sunday, September 19, 4:25 p.m. EST, CBS, Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Last week, Dak Prescott battled and lost to the NFL’s oldest starting quarterback. This week, he’ll face Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers, who is a second-year sensation.
Because it isn’t against a division opponent and the NFC East isn’t as strong as the AFC, this isn’t the same kind of must-win game for Buffalo. It will, however, be another difficult test for the Cowboys and a great opportunity to demonstrate that they are serious about winning.
After the stunning loss of DeMarcus Lawrence, the Cowboys’ defense will have to demonstrate that they can bend but not break and produce a stop late in the game. On the offensive side of the ball, Prescott must maintain his strong performance from Week 1, when he completed 42 of 58 passes for 403 yards and three touchdowns.
The reason it’s so important for Prescott to perform well again on Sunday is because we know one thing about this game: it’ll be a shootout. It will also be thrilling to see two of the NFL’s best quarterbacks go head to head.
The Cowboys must defeat excellent opponents if they want to be a genuine playoff club (or even more). Their quest to do so begins against the Chargers in Week 2 of the NFL season.
