The Milwaukee Bucks were the only team to sign a player this offseason who had never appeared in an NBA game. They just might have gotten the steal of the summer as Pat Connaughton’s opening night performance was one for the ages.
The pat connaughton net worth is the Milwaukee Bucks scoring the bargain of the offseason. Pat Connaughton’s opening night performance was a good indication that this year will be different for the Bucks.
The Milwaukee Bucks made a strong start to their NBA championship defense against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night. Milwaukee won a thunderous 127-104, with Giannis Antetokounmpo looking as terrific as he has in a long time. Swingman Pat Connaughton also provided a huge scoring lift for the Bucks, demonstrating why his $16 million contract extension may be the greatest value of the summer.
Pat Connaughton was re-signed by the Bucks for three years and $16 million following a strong postseason performance.
During the 2020-21 season, Pat Connaughton was mostly a backup player for the Milwaukee Bucks. That is, until the NBA Finals, when he emerged as one of the game’s most important wing players.
During the regular season, Connaughton was a net positive player for the Bucks. He finished the season with a 0.6 value over replacement (VORP) rating, averaging 6.9 points and 4.8 rebounds in little under 23 minutes per game. Off the bench, the former Notre Dame player provided Milwaukee with guarding flexibility and floor space.
Connaughton’s worth soared in the Finals, despite the fact that he was a valuable player throughout the regular season.
Connaughton shot 44.1 percent from three-point range on close to six tries per game versus the Phoenix Suns, averaging 9.2 points and 5.8 rebounds. His true shooting percentage of 65.9% was the best on the Bucks.
It’s crucial to deliver at big times, and Connaughton accomplished just that throughout the Finals. It was more about how he went about doing it. When Suns players were pulled down the lane attempting to stop Antetokounmpo from getting to the hoop, Antetokounmpo made them pay. This was particularly true in Game 4, when he scored eight points in the fourth quarter and nailed a game-winning three-pointer with little over three minutes left.
This summer, the Bucks prioritized re-signing Connaughton over Bryn Forbes in order to maintain their championship integrity. They did so for just three years and $16 million, which seemed to be a good deal considering the amount of wheat Connaughton provided them in the playoffs.
If Opening Night is any indication, that contract may wind up being the best deal of the summer.
Connaughton was outstanding in Milwaukee’s victory against the Brooklyn Nets on opening night.
Prior to Milwaukee’s Opening Night matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, Bucks fans got the opportunity to see their team hoist a banner and receive the 2020-21 championship rings. Pat Connaughton demonstrated why his $16 million deal seems like a bargain to the same fans.
Antetokounmpo set the tone for the Bucks once again. The Greek Freak ended with 32 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists, demonstrating his dominance on and off the court and trying to speed up the game anytime Milwaukee had a transition opportunity.
The Bucks, on the other hand, needed help from other sources to stave off repeated Nets surges led by Kevin Durant and Patty Mills. Connaughton would provide it. On 8-of-13 shooting, the 28-year-old scored 20 points, including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.
Connaughton had no qualms about firing the gun from beyond the arc. When Antetokounmpo and others were crowded by the defense, he made himself accessible as a cutter, resulting in easy dunks and rim opportunities.
The Arlington, Massachusetts native is a luxury for the Bucks because of his skills as a catch-and-shoot man who is also an athletic specimen capable of assisting on the boards, finishing at the basket, and defending numerous spots. However, it’s unclear how head coach Mike Budenholzer will manage his rotations.
Can the Bucks give Connaughton more playing time?

Connaughton played almost 30 minutes on Tuesday, which would seem to indicate that he’ll be getting more playing time this season, right? Not always, to be sure.
Because Jrue Holiday exited the game with a heel ailment, the Bucks guard saw a lot of action. Not to mention the fact that Donte DiVincenzo is currently recuperating from surgery on his left ankle. His impending return complicates matters even more in the backcourt.
Grayson Allen, who started at 2-guard and just inked a two-year, $20 million contract, is also worth mentioning. On Tuesday, Jordan Nwora looked extremely competent as a backup forward, while Connaughton may receive some playing time as an undersized 3-man.
As the Bucks attempt to repeat, Connaughton demonstrated why his skill set may once again make him an important component of the jigsaw. Will he receive the minutes he needs to prove that the $16 million contract was a bargain for a club that should compete for a championship once again? That will have to wait and see.
