‘Yeah, He Does That All the Time’

To be a champion is to have an unwavering, unshakable confidence. To show no fear in the face of adversity and temptation, or even fatigue. To know that you would do anything for your team mates, work as a unit without hesitation – from the movie “Remember The Titans”

The “all i do is win lyrics meaning” is a song by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth. The lyrics describe the protagonist’s love for winning, and how he has never lost at anything.

The players that suited up against Larry Bird were well aware that the Boston Celtics icon enjoyed a good trash talk. Bird’s habit of yelling at his colleagues was no exception. Opposing rookies, on the other hand, didn’t get the word until it was too late.

Terry Porter, a two-time NBA All-Player and former Portland Trail Blazers point guard, recounted Bird giving him a “Welcome to the NBA” moment, which culminated in Blazers star Clyde Drexler providing some blunt advice that became Bird’s career catchphrase.

During Terry Porter’s debut season, Larry Bird earned league MVP and a ring with the Celtics.

During the 1985-86 NBA season, the Boston Celtics dominated the league, with Larry Bird at the core of the team’s dominance.

Bird had a 25.8 point, 9.8 rebound, 6.8 assist, and 2.0 steals per game average. He outperformed everyone else in terms of value over replacement player (8.4) and box plus-minus (8.7), having a huge influence on a Celtics team that won 67 games behind one of the finest starting lineups in NBA history. The Hick from French Lick was named league MVP for the third time and led Boston to a title.

While Larry Legend was still at the top of his game, Terry Porter, a rookie with the Portland Trail Blazers, sought to earn himself a spot in the rotation.

In his second season, Porter was named the team’s starting point guard. He went on to make two All-Star teams and earn a reputation as one of the game’s best clutch shooters. Porter’s first season, on the other hand, was full of learning opportunities.

In all but three of his 79 appearances, the Milwaukee native came off the bench, averaging only 15.4 minutes per game. He was given his “Welcome to the NBA” moment by Bird early in the 1985-86 season.

After Larry Legend clowned the Blazers rookie, Clyde Drexler informed Porter about Bird’s trash-talking tactics.

Larry Bird loved to chat on the court, something Terry Porter was unaware of. He figured it out quite quickly.

Porter remembered a time during his rookie season when he attempted to close out on Bird in the corner (h/t The Athletic). Porter was warned he was a step behind by the Celtics star before he even shot the ball.

“It was my first year in Boston. He had the ball in the far corner of the field. I was trying to close out and he was in his renowned form, so he shot it and shouted, ‘Too late, rookie,’ as I ran out.”

–Terry Porter, as reported by The Athletic

Porter was taken aback by the situation. When he returned to the bench, he informed Blazers 2-guard Clyde Drexler about Bird’s clowning of him. Porter could anticipate an earful from the Celtics legend in the future, as the Glide hardly flinched.

“I had no idea he was a trash talker.” I told Clyde when I got to the bench, and he said, ‘Yeah, he does it all the time.’

–Terry Porter, as reported by The Athletic

Porter’s account of the encounter with Drexler makes it sound like a “join the club” moment. Bird’s outspoken remarks depressed a lot of opponents, so it’s appropriate.

Drexler’s reaction, on the other hand, goes beyond a straightforward description of Bird’s trash-talking practices, which included forecasting game-winning shots. Indeed, it’s a quote that sums up Bird’s whole career.

Bird’s penchant for chirping his opponents is explained by Drexler’s comment.

“He does it all the time,” says Larry Bird, and it’s more than a description of his trash-talking antics. Larry Legend’s excellent all-around talent and ability to continuously leave jaws agape is defined in many ways by this song.

Bird managed to make the exceptional seem everyday. Using his off hand, he piled up triple-doubles. He was able to find impossible passing lanes and make shots from all around the court.

The absolute confidence of the Hall of Famer made for magnificent drama. That same attitude left an unforgettable impression on a number of opponents, who (including Porter) came to realize that no one could stop Bird from getting his way.

Basketball Reference provided the statistics.

The “i don’t know how but they found me do it all the time” is a quote that was said by an NBA player. The player’s name is not given, but he does say that he does this all the time.
